Yes, a tubal ligation can indeed be reversed. Tubal ligation reversal is done to allow you to get pregnant again even though you had a tubal ligation procedure in the past (i.e., you had your “tubes tied”).
If you have changed your mind about pregnancy, this is where a tubal ligation reversal comes in. This is the surgical procedure of reconnecting, or re-opening, your fallopian tubes.

A successful tubal ligation reversal depends on many factors, such as:

How Tubal Ligation Reversal Is Performed
A tubal ligation is completed by either blocking the tube or by removing a section of the tube. To reverse a section removal, the surgeon will most likely make an incision on each side of the tube and stitch the two ends back together again. If the tube was blocked by using rings or clips, the surgeon will remove these devices.
Preparing for the Surgery
Before surgery, you will need to inform your doctor of any medications you are taking, including non-prescription medicine and supplements. You will be advised to stop taking certain medicines that will affect the ability of your blood to clot, and also to stop smoking, for a short period of time before your operation.
On the day of your tubal ligation reversal procedure, you will be advised not to eat or drink anything, including water, for at least eight hours before the surgery. Usually they tell you not to eat or drink “after midnight” the night before if your surgery will be early in the morning. This is advised in order to avoid food or liquids from coming up into your esophagus while you are under anesthesia.
After Tubal Ligation Reversal
Because tubal ligation reversal is a minimally invasive procedure, it could be performed on an outpatient basis – meaning you will likely be able to go home on the same day of the surgery. However, you will need to arrange for someone to drive you home.
You will likely be told that you can take a shower after 48 hours, and that you should avoid rubbing or handling the incision area for at least a week. It’s normal to feel some pain and tenderness in your abdomen and your shoulder. The stitches will also dissolve on their own.
Follow all of your doctor’s advice about taking care of yourself after your tubal ligation reversal surgery. Your physician will also order a follow-up appointment about a week after the surgery just to check how your healing is going.
Most women do not suffer any complications after tubal ligation reversal surgery.
